You are in a feed next to friends, news, entertainment, and novelty. The threshold for stopping and reading is high, and the window is small.
Most brand social copy fails because it is written about the brand rather than for the reader. Product announcements, company news, feature updates -- these are what the brand wants to say, not what makes a reader pause. Copy that performs on social is copy that is immediately relatable, specific enough to feel real, and says something that the reader did not already know.
